Specificity:
The antibody recognizes both bromodeoxyuridine
(BrdU) and iododeoxyuridine (IdU)
incorporated into DNA, nucleotides and
nucleosides. IU-4 is recommended where the
DNA is lightly substituted and optimum antibody
affinity is critical. IU-4 is only available
unconjugated and must be used with a
secondary antibody for detection.

Format:
1 mL ascites antibody solution with 0.1% sodium
azide.
Storage:
Short term: 4°C. For long term, -20°C or below.
Aliquot to avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Applications and Suggested Dilutions:

Immunohistochemistry: Detection of
proliferating cells.

Flow cytometry: Detection of proliferating
cells.
Note: Before this antibody can stain cells,
BrdU or IdU should be incorporated in the
DNA of the cells. Incorporation can be
obtained by in vivo injection of the
compounds in experimental animals, but also
during short (at least 1 hr.) incubation in vitro
in an appropriate tissue culture medium. It is
recommended that 5 μL be used for 1 x 106
cells. Lesser amounts of the antibody may be
sufficient.
The optimal dilution for a specific application
should be determined by the researcher.
