Background:
The transcription factor ATF-2 (also called CREBP1)
is a member of the ATF/CREB family of
leucine zipper proteins. ATF-2 forms
homodimers and heterodimers with c-Jun to
initiate CRE-dependent transcription.
Phosphorylation of ATF-2 at Thr 69 and Thr 71
by stress-activated kinases is necessary for
transcriptional activation. Myc also induces
phosphorylation of ATF-2 at Thr 69 and Thr 71
to prolong the half-life of ATF-2. ATF-2 also
functions as a histone acetyltransferase (HAT)
by specifically acetylating histones H2B and H4
in vitro.

Recognizes ATF-2 of human, mouse and rat
origins.
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide mapping to the N-terminus of
human ATF-2.
Species Reactivity:
Human, mouse and rat. Others not tested.
Format:
100 μg (0.5 mg/mL) peptide affinity-purified
rabbit anti-ATF-2 polyclonal antibody in
phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2,
containing 50% glycerol, 0.02% thimerosal and
protein stabilizer.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. For long term storage, aliquot
and store at -70°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw
cycles.
Applications:

Western blot: Use at 1 - 2 μg/mL.

Immunohistochemistry: Use at 5 - 10 μg/mL.
The optimal dilution for a specific application
should be determined by the researcher.
